AIR C.A.R.E.S COMMUNITY GARDEN

The AIR CARE Community Garden was created by a passionate group of middle and high school youth determined to address the food desert in our community. The garden embodies their commitment to change, growth, and sustainability.

CARES stands for Community Accent Real Edible Solutions — a name that reflects the youth’s vision of creating real, tangible access to fresh, healthy food right in our neighborhood.

In 2022, the project received its first boost through a $500 Sodexo Hunger Grant, which helped our youth get the garden started. Soon after, we formed partnerships with Fort Bend County Parks and Recreation and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, taking the next steps toward establishing the garden at Blue Ridge Park.

In 2023, our efforts received another major lift when Big Star Ford reached out seeking a way to give back through community service. When we shared our need for a fence to protect the garden, they enthusiastically stepped up and donated the fencing that now surrounds the site.

Since then, a small but dedicated group of volunteers has been maintaining and nurturing the space, working little by little to sustain and expand the garden. We’re proud of how far we’ve come — but we need more helping hands to bring the AIR CARE Community Garden into full bloom.

If you’re passionate about food justice, youth empowerment, or community wellness, we’d love for you to join us. Together, we can continue to grow something beautiful — for us, by us.
